Well it depends on what you're expecting for free. I know of a couple very reputable free web hosting providers that have been around for years, but they don't generally offer things like cPanel and script installers as these incur additional costs to the provider. What type of website are you trying to launch? Perhaps I can recommend a free web hosting provider for you based on your requirements.

Honestly, your best bet is to go with a paid service. There are many to choose from, and some stand out by offering different features.

That's exactly right! You'd normally find that a paid service such as VopaHost, would provide a far better service than a free web hosting provider. Perhaps they're worth checking out?

I use both a free hosting provider as well as Host Gator. I am using the free one for my simple html personal website. It cannot support CMS systems properly. Pages take forever to load. So for efficiency, you would have to go with a paid hosting provider.

Tim, the only free hosting I've used is Blogger and my experience there has been mostly good, apart from when one of my blogs was marked as spam. I got it reinstated though. I also have paid hosting and I've had no problems with that at all.

Depending on where it is, you can find decent free hosting. In most cases though, it's not going to be very good. Most "free" hosting is offered to attract clients, then force them to upgrade by either doing away with the free hosting plans or by hitting service caps.
A quality company that invests time & money into it's services is worth paying for, especially for business websites.

There are many free hosting providers, but what would you expect from something you get for free? I would just go for paid hosting service. You can purchase a paid hosting plan at as cheap as $5 a month.
