Using Google Adsense ads is just one way to monetize a site. If you want to insert the AdSense code, be sure to review the Google AdSense rules and regulations to make sure your site is in compliance with their policies.

Yes, publishing Adsense ads is one of the most popular ways of getting income from your website. It's also the easiest way, in the sense that you can set Adsense ads on your website within a minute or two.

I agree with you to some extent. Setting Adsense ads on your website is as easy as pie. Though, before that you should get your account approved by Google, and it can takes weeks till months for that.

The easiest way to get an Adsense account is to start a Blogger blog. Post a few good posts on there and then apply for Adsense through them. Since they're owned by Google, it's much faster to get approved that way. When I got approved, I only had 2 posts but that was a few years back. I've heard that it's better to have several good posts first nowadays.

I wasn't aware that having a Blogger account got you approved quicker. When I got my Adsense account, I just had a small hobby website that didn't really have that much content. I was approved after about two or three days. Have they made it harder to be approved for an Adsense account these days?

I think for some markets ad-words is a good idea, however I think because of the amount of competition in the webhosting market its practically useless. On google the key words "Web hosting UK" costs almost £18 per click and the click through rate is something like 0.01%. Then about only 1 in 100 visitors actually buy anything. As you can see if fast becomes expensive, and offers little return.
Bing Adwords are actually a little better as they are massively over looked by many companies, hence the cost is about 10-20% that of googles.
